Rommel’s Recipe for Success.
Taken from ‘Real Men Eat Pufferfish’ by Robert Twigger:
- Everyday do something you find physically painful and unpleasant. Rommel always rose at 6 a.m every day and ran 1km flat out. Even when he was diagnosed with a heart condition and had chest pains.
- Never be tired, never eat and never sleep in public. Nothing inspires people more than a superman.
- Minimise losses by tactics rather than maximise gains.
- Reconnotoire in force.
- Be merciless on any mistake made by the enemy.
- Promote enthusiasm, spirit and correct values ahead of specialised skills, physical fitness and training.
- Carry out an attack regardless of what is happening on your rear flank.
- Choose fairness over popularity every time.
- Use tanks. Use tanks in numbers.
- Trust your intuition in the heat of battle.
- A disordered enemy does not protect his flanks, use this to your advantage.

Many human perplexities are in reality nonexistent… many pressing troubles are the creations of exaggerated fear and the offspring of augmented apprehension.
